- Rentecarlo is a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace that lets anybody rent out their own car
- It aims to be at the intersection of car sharing, car ownership and car rental, by offering access to a wide selection of cars and thereby making better use of cars
- Rentecarlo Insurance is a fully comprehensive insurance provider, which also includes 24/7 roadside assistance during the rental period. It replaces the car’s current insurance for the duration of the rental and is automatically created when a booking is completed
Consumer Benefits
- Win-win situation for car owners and renters: The plan allows anyone who owns a car to put it online for rent, and any renter traveling in the same area can rent the car for a maximum of 28 days (Renters need to fulfill certain criteria such as UK/EU citizens etc.)
- Rental insurance included in package: Rental car insurance is branded Rentecarlo but is delivered by Equity Red Star (ERS), a specialist motor insurer in the UK, providing cover solely via Lloyd’s Syndicate 218
How to use
- Anybody can apply to list their car for rental, although Rentecarlo validates the car before it goes online
- The car owner determines the rental price, describes the car and uploads images of the vehicle
- All bookings are made through the website, with Rentecarlo handling the required insurance and offering 24/7 road assistance coverage
